Chicago survives Quad City comeback, wins 4-2

The Quad City Jr. Flames tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Chicago Hitmen would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

Chicago made the score 4-1 on a goal by Jeff Salzbrunn at 11:38 in the third period, and Quad City got as close as 4-2 when Jared Fielden scored 17:05 into the third period.

The Hitmen were led by Chris Lozinak, who had one goal. Lozinak scored 11:09 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Chicago. Nick Gnagni provided the assist.

The defensemen of Chicago were also effective in the Jr. Flames' zone, and came away with two goals.

Chicago also got a goal from Josh Baker as well. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago were Damen Fera, Jeremy Edwards, Luc Fournier, and Mike Lozano, who contributed one a piece.

Quad City forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Flames surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Quad City's offense rang up 42 shots on the Hitmen's net.

Chayce Coenen also scored for Quad City. In addition, Quad City received assists from Cole Chapman, who had two and Ryan Ach and Drake Fisher, who each chipped in one.

Joe Olen rejected 40 shots on goal for Chicago. The Hitmen totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Michael Meadows recorded 22 saves for the Jr. Flames. Quad City registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
