North Iowa vanquishes Quad City in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Sergey Barkin netted the deciding goal for the North Iowa Bulls in the shootout as Bulls prevailed over the Quad City Jr. Flames, 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed 16 turns to complete the shootout. Quad City got a shootout goal from Luke McCarthy. In addition to the clincher, North Iowa got a shootout goal from Nick Marsh.

The Bulls came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. North Iowa was down 2-0 after a goal by the Jr. Flames' McCarthy at 19:52 in the second period. The Bulls knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Bobby Chapman at 13:02 in the third period.

North Iowa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 44 penalty minutes.

The Bulls were helped by Brian Harrison, who finished with one goal. Harrison scored on the power play 1:57 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Noah Anderson provided the assist. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Steve Heller, Marsh, and Kevin Loppatto, who each chipped in one.

More assists for Quad City came via Corey Sikich, who had one and Travis Walls, who had two.

Matthew Bartels made 28 saves for North Iowa on 30 shots. The Bulls registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Team's Carson Gray and Jared Ramstead were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Quad City's Michael Meadows stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Jr. Flames incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
