Toledo downs Metro in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Joe Skrzynski gave the Toledo Cherokee a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Metro Jets when he scored 45 seconds into the extra period.

Metro could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Toledo made it 3-1 on a goal by Ryan Quigley at 12:49 in the second period. The Jets pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Matt Stirling at 14:44 in the third period.

The Cherokee were paced by Skrzynski, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Toledo's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 42 shots put on Metro's net.

Toledo additionally got points from Gary Neill, who also racked up one goal and one assist. James Steele also scored for Toledo. More assists for Toledo came via Mareks Kepals, who had two and Andrew Benyo and Ryan Kelly, who each chipped in one.

The Jets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Toledo power plays. The Cherokee were unable to stop Metro from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jets eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Metro was helped by Doug Andrews, who registered one goal. Andrews scored 7:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toledo. Josh Beleski assisted on the tally. Metro got a goal from Matt Stemkoski as well. In addition, Metro received assists from Adam Reid, Will Shier, and Mike MacKinnon, who contributed one each.

Austyn Roudebush recorded 28 saves for Toledo. The Cherokee incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jets' Dillon Kelley stopped 38 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Metro incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
