Fairbanks downs Dawson Creek, 8-4

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs took home the win against the Dawson Creek Rage, 8-4.

Fairbanks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Ice Dogs wound up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Fairbanks surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Ice Dogs average 3.8 goals per contest. The 51 shots that Fairbanks put on net surpassed the Ice Dogs' average of 27.2 shots per game this season.

Fairbanks was led by Jeff Earnest, who had two goals and one assist. Earnest scored the first of his two goals at 6:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tayler Munson assisted on the tally. Earnest's next tally made the score 6-3 Fairbanks with 18:56 left in the third period. The Ice Dogs found themselves down a man on Munson's cross checking. Fairbanks also got points from Pavlo Padakin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Max Birkinbine, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Fairbanks also had goals scored by Logan Wendling, who had two and Russell Finch and JT Osborn, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fairbanks were Sean ORourke, who had two and Pete Spratte, Nick Hinz, Gabe Levin, and Justin Woods, who each chipped in one.

Fairbanks was unable to stop Dawson Creek from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rage eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Dawson Creek was led by Scott Fellnermayr, who racked up one goal and two assists. Fellnermayr scored 6:36 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Fairbanks. Keenan Bailey provided the assist. Dawson Creek also got a goal from Kelyn Opel as well. In addition, Dawson Creek received assists from Josh Hartley, who had one and Shawn Mueller, who had three.

Steve Perry rejected 33 shots on goal for the Ice Dogs. Fairbanks registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Rage's Edward Dyson stopped 43 shots out of the 51 that he faced. Dawson Creek incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
