Wichita Falls wins tough contest against New Mexico, 4-2

The Wichita Falls Wildcats and the New Mexico Mustangs were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Wichita Falls made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Sergei Soloviev at 11:38 of the third period.

Zach Pochiro had one goal and two assists to lead the Wildcats. Pochiro scored 17:01 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wichita Falls. Rodney Lalonde picked up the assist.

The defensemen of Wichita Falls were also effective in New Mexico's zone, and came away with two goals. The Wildcats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 48 shots on goal during the game, better than the 21 shots per game they average.

Wichita Falls also got points from Tucker Poolman, who also registered one goal and one assist and Pochiro, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Wichita Falls got a goal from Pat Thompson as well. In addition, Wichita Falls received assists from Chris Pontello, who had one and Renato Engler, who had two.

The Mustangs were helped by Patrick Anderson, who finished with one goal. Anderson scored 6:25 into the second period to make the score 1-0 New Mexico. Evan Johnston also scored for New Mexico. Other players who recorded assists for New Mexico were Ryan Dau and Adam Chapie, who each chipped in one.

Jo Jo Jeanetta made 25 saves for Wichita Falls on 27 shots. The Wildcats incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Randy Graham turned away 44 pucks between the pipes for New Mexico. The Mustangs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
