Alexandria uses big second period to beat Coulee Region, 10-0Runestone Community Center Sat, Feb 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Alexandria Blizzard scored six goals in the second period to pull away from the Coulee Region Chill and clinch a 10-0 win. Nick DAvolio had two goals and two assists to lead Alexandria. DAvolio scored the first of his two goals at 2:04 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Alexandria. Hayden Trupp provided the assist. DAvolio's next tally made the score 9-0 Alexandria with 6:38 left in the third period. Dylan Zink assisted on the tally. Jacob Meyers spearheaded the defensive effort for the Blizzard, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 30 saves for the shutout. Meyers certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.02 entering the contest. Alexandria's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Coulee Region power plays. The Blizzard featured an improved defense during the game. Alexandria gives up 2.7 goals on average per game. The Blizzard surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Alexandria has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 49 shots on goal, the Blizzard exceeded the 31.0 shots they average per game this year. Alexandria additionally got points from Justin Moody, who also racked up one goal and three assists, Craig Lindegard, who also registered one goal and two assists, Thomas Williams, who also had one goal and one assist, and Reid Sturos, who also tallied one goal and three assists.
