Behind a great game by Mitchell Snider, who had two goals and two assists, the Traverse City North Stars defeated the Chicago Hitmen, 6-1.

Snider found the back of the net 3:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Traverse City and again while 9:53 into the first to make the score 2-0 Traverse City.

Chicago was stymied by Traverse City netminder Kyle Laslo, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Laslo managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.56 prior to the game.

The North Stars were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and two majors for 22 minutes in penalty time. Traverse City surpassed its season average of 16 penalty minutes per game. The North Stars outdid their season average for goals scored. Traverse City has scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign. The North Stars put 38 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25 they average per game.

Traverse City also got points from Snider, who also finished with two goals and two assists and Eric Rivard, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. Kyle Schempp also scored for Traverse City. More assists for Traverse City came via Chris Waterstreet, who had one and Jared Van Wormer, who had three.

The Hitmen forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. Chicago had been averaging 19 minutes in penalties per game.

The Hitmen were led by Joey Haydock, who scored the team's only goal. Haydock scored 1:57 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Traverse City. Anthony Annunziato provided the assist.

Traverse City registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Nick Kohn made 32 saves for Chicago on 38 shots. The Hitmen registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
