Port Huron survives Janesville comeback, wins 4-2Janesville Ice Arena Sat, Feb 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Huron Fighting Falcons survived a determined comeback attempt by the Janesville Jets on the way to a 4-2 win. Port Huron took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Janesville storm back on a John Olen goal 18:09 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Fighting Falcons were led by Alex Globke, who racked up one goal and one assist. Globke scored on the power play 9:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Huron. Port Huron earned a power play opportunity when Eric Carlson was put in the box for hooking. Maxwell Reavis assisted on the tally. Port Huron additionally got points from Globke, who also registered one goal and one assist. Port Huron got a goal from Kody Polin as well. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Bret Lewandowski, Jake Goldberg, Rick DeRosa, Mike Moroso, Nick Horne, and Alex Archibald, who contributed one each. The defense for the Jets played an important role offensively, racking up 16 shots on goal. The 37 shots that Janesville put on net surpassed the Jets' average of 30 shots per game this season. Janesville was led by Jordan Bancroft, who registered one goal and one assist. Bancroft scored on the power play 6:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Port Huron. The Jets had taken the advantage when the Fighting Falcons' Ryan Teal got sent off for hooking. Jake Horton picked up the assist. Janesville also got points from Bancroft, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were Garrett Cecere, who had two. Peter Megariotis recorded 35 saves for Port Huron. The Fighting Falcons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Janesville's Tony Kujava stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
