Sitler's hat trick boosts Springfield over Michigan, 7-2

The Michigan Warriors could not stop the Springfield Jr. Blues' Chris Sitler, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-2 win.

Sitler's first goal came 6:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:06 into the third and at 12:57 into the third.

Springfield surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Jr. Blues average three goals per game. With 35 shots on target during the contest, Springfield exceeded the 28 shots it averages per game this year.

Springfield also got points from Ben Kramer, who also registered one goal and one assist and Ethan Nauman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Springfield got a goal from Mike Williams as well. More assists for Springfield came via Kyle Cook, who had two and Gavin Tufte, Brett Skibba, Cody Dixon, Radim Matus, and Tyler Rehm, who each chipped in one.

Michigan's offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22 shots per game it averages.

The Warriors were helped by Matus Matis, who finished with one goal. Matis scored on the power play 8:24 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Springfield. Michigan had gained a power play chance when Dixon was whistled for hooking. Derek OFlynn picked up the assist. Martin Gruse also scored for Michigan. In addition, Michigan received assists from Michael Economos, who had one.

The Jr. Blues took out Cameron Yang after he had made 20 saves and installed Gabe Antoni in goal, where he finished with six saves and the win. Springfield incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Trevor Gorsuch made 28 saves for the Warriors on 35 shots. Michigan incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
