Fairbanks survives Fresno comeback, wins 4-3Selland Arena Fri, Feb 24, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Fairbanks Ice Dogs survived a determined comeback attempt by the Fresno Monsters on the way to a 4-3 win. A goal by Garret Clemment put Fairbanks up 4-2 in the third period, but Fresno pulled to within one on Filip Winkler's tally 18:27 into the third period. Clemment had two goals and one assist to lead the Ice Dogs. Clemment scored the first of his two goals at 9:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fairbanks. Rudy Sulmonde provided the assist. Clemment's next tally made the score Fairbanks with 2:46 left in the third period. Tayler Munson assisted on the tally. Fairbanks also got points from Clemment, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Sulmonde, who also had one goal and one assist. Jeff Earnest also scored for Fairbanks. In addition, Fairbanks received assists from Russell Finch, who had one. The Monsters' offense was clicking better than usual and put 21 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18 shots per game they average. Fresno additionally got points from Winkler, who also registered one goal and one assist. Fresno got a goal from Chase Sisk as well. More assists for Fresno came via Carl Witty, David Dalbec, Karl Andersen, Kyle Buffardi, and Dominic Valencia, who each chipped in one. Alex Fons recorded 18 saves for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Fresno's Tomas Sholl stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Monsters incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
