Springfield stifles Michigan's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Springfield Jr. Blues, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Springfield and clinched a 4-2 victory.

The Jr. Blues led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Springfield's Josef Pontasch's scored on the power play at 18:35 in the second period to put the Jr. Blues up 3-0.

Pontasch had one goal and two assists to lead Springfield.

The Jr. Blues put 44 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28 they average per game.

Springfield also got points from Kyle Cook, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Pontasch, who also registered one goal and two assists. Kevin Walters also scored for Springfield. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield were Chris Sitler, Ruslan Pedan, and Cody Dixon, who each chipped in one.

The Michigan Warriors kept Springfield's goalie busy throughout the game, and Gabe Antoni made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Michigan was helped by Robert Mantha, who had one goal. Mantha scored 12:05 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Springfield. Martin Gruse assisted on the tally. Michigan got a goal from Michael Economos as well. More assists for Michigan came via Chris Eckler, who had one.

The Jr. Blues incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Warriors' starting goalie, Brach Tiller, made 20 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Trevor Gorsuch, who stopped 20 shots. Michigan incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
