Austin downs Aberdeen, 4-1Riverside Sat, Feb 18, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
CJ Smith grabbed one point to lead the Austin Bruins to a 4-1 victory over the Aberdeen Wings. Austin also got points from John Simonson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Austin Nelson also scored for Austin. In addition, Austin received assists from Jeremy Finger, who had two and Trevor Waldoch, Jake Flynn, Chris Fischer, Matt Hansen, and AJ Reid, who each chipped in one. Aberdeen did not challenge the opposing goalie, finishing with only 14 shots on net to force 13 saves. The shot total fell below the Wings' season average of 28 shots per game. Aberdeen could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Wings average three goals per game. Aberdeen was led by Justin Parizek, who scored the team's only goal. Parizek scored on the power play 1:14 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Austin. Trevor Husch assisted on the tally. Nicholas Lehr recorded 13 saves for Austin. The Bruins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Wings' Marcus Zelzer stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Aberdeen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
