Laslo leads Traverse City to shutout victory over Kalamazoo

Kyle Laslo recorded a shutout against the Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings as the Traverse City North Stars picked up a 4-0 win.

Sean Murphy had a great game for Traverse City, netting two goals. Murphy found the back of the net 12:58 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Traverse City and again while 4:25 into the third to make the score 3-0 Traverse City.

The North Stars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Kalamazoo power plays. Traverse City's defensive play was more effective than usual against Kalamazoo. The North Stars average two goals allowed per game. Traverse City was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one majorfor 17 minutes in penalty time. The leading offender was Zack Dorer, who totaled five minutes in penalty time with one major.

The North Stars stifled the Jr. K Wings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Traverse City got a goal from Mitchell Snider as well. Other players who recorded assists for Traverse City were Michal Toman, who had two and Jake Peacock, Chris Waterstreet, and Chris Leibinger, who contributed one each.

Kalamazoo could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jr. K Wings average three goals per game. With 36 shots on target during the contest, Kalamazoo exceeded the 29 shots it averages per game this year.

The Jr. K Wings were led by Brandon Flood, who took six shots.

Kyle Laslo made 36 saves for Traverse City on 36 shots. The North Stars registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Alex Okicki turned away 21 pucks between the pipes for Kalamazoo. The Jr. K Wings ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
