Port Huron uses big second period to beat Chicago, 7-0

The Chicago Hitmen was within striking distance after one period, but the Port Huron Fighting Falcons put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-0 victory.

Max Milosek frustrated Chicago's offense all game, and stopped 35 shots en route to a shutout. Milosek certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.57 entering the contest.

Port Huron was led by Maxwell Reavis, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Reavis scored 11:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Huron. Easton Powers provided the assist.

The Fighting Falcons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hitmen to score on any of their three power plays. Port Huron was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Fighting Falcons allow two goals per game. Port Huron's goal total was higher than its season average. The Fighting Falcons have scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign. Port Huron put 50 shots on net during the contest, more than the 31 it averages per game.

The Fighting Falcons stifled Chicago's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Port Huron also got points from Powers, who also had one goal and one assist and Alex Archibald, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Port Huron included Alex Globke, who had two and Brett DAndrea and Rick DeRosa, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Huron came via Jake Goldberg, who had three and Bret Lewandowski and Ryan Nick, who contributed two each.

The Fighting Falcons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Chicago's starting goalie, Ryan Coyne, made 42 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Nick Kohn, who stopped one shot. The Hitmen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.

Port Huron registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
