Alexandria wins tough contest against Minot, 3-2Runestone Community Center Sat, Feb 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Alexandria Blizzard gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Minot Minotauros. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Tucker Coborn secured the win for Alexandria with a goal in the third period. The Blizzard were sparked by Coborn, who had one goal. Coborn scored 19:17 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Alexandria. Seth Ronsberg provided the assist. Alexandria forced Minot goalie Jake Hebda to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Alexandria got a goal from Jordan Krebsbach as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alexandria were Thomas Williams, who had two and Michael Mooney, Matt Youso, and Hayden Trupp, who contributed one each. The Minotauros' offense was clicking better than usual and put 19 shots on goal during the game, better than the 17 shots per game they average. Minot was helped by Josh Twietmeyer, who registered one goal. Twietmeyer scored 17:12 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brian Farkas assisted on the tally. Tim Donohue also scored for Minot. More assists for Minot came via Jadin Martin, Carl Krieger, and Jack McFarlane, who each chipped in one. Jameson Shortreed made 17 saves for the Blizzard on 19 shots. Alexandria incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hebda recorded 33 saves for the Minotauros. Minot incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
