Hawkesbury survives penalties, beats Brockville, 6-2

The Brockville Braves failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Hawkesbury Hawks shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-2.

Hawkesbury was led by Stephen Hrehoriak, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Hrehoriak scored on the power play 10:57 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Hawkesbury. The Hawks had gained a power play chance when Jared Henry was whistled for too many men. Nick Samoluk assisted on the tally.

Hawkesbury's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Brockville power plays. Brockville was unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hawkesbury eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Hawks outdid their season average for goals scored. Hawkesbury has scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Hawkesbury also got points from Antonio Roumeliotis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Holden Anderson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Sebastian Meltzer also scored for Hawkesbury. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Stefano Momesso, who had two and Philippe Saviuk, Felix Levasseur, Yanik Laliberte, Carl Faucher, Sebastien Lavoie, and Anthony Sanniti, who contributed one a piece.

The Braves were helped by Chris Roll, who tallied one goal. Roll scored 4:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. Brandon Cole picked up the assist. Brockville also got a goal from David Ferreira as well. More assists for Brockville came via Brett Garvey, Matt Chartrain, and Cory Wilson, who each chipped in one.

Michael Comitini took the win and made 20 saves before being replaced by Carmine Guerriero who made two saves. The Hawks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. William Betts rejected 32 shots on goal for Brockville. The Braves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
