The Hawkesbury Hawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Carleton Place Canadians would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Carleton Place made the score 3-1 on a goal by Luke Martin at 10:15 in the second period, and Hawkesbury got as close as 3-2 when Remi Elie scored 16:05 into the third period. Brock Edwards had a great game for the Canadians, netting two goals. Edwards found the back of the net 5:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place and again while on the power play 9:17 into the second to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:31 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Carleton Place's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 38 shots put on the Hawks' net. Team could not crack Hawkesbury's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Ben Murphy, who had two and Kyle Phillips, Mac Olson, Luke Edwards, and Anthony McVeigh, who contributed one each. The Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Francis Landers, who totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Hawkesbury was helped by Stefano Momesso, who racked up one goal. Momesso scored on the power play 7:36 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Hawks had gotten the advantage when the Canadians' Martin was sent off for interference. Philippe Saviuk assisted on the tally. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Yanik Laliberte, who had one and Stephen Hrehoriak, who had two. Carleton Place's Joe Yetman stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. The Canadians ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Carleton Place, Phillips was ejected from the game. Carmine Guerriero made 35 saves for Hawkesbury on 38 shots. The Hawks registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Hawkesbury, Landers and Sebastian Meltzer were ejected from the contest.
