Robillard's hat trick boosts Ottawa over Cumberland, 8-0

Ben Robillard netted a hat trick to lead the Ottawa Senators over the Cumberland Grads, 8-0.

Robillard got on the scoresheet 7:30 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:03 into the third and at 16:12 into the third.

The game was close after the first frame, but Ottawa banged in three goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for Cumberland.

The Senators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Ottawa's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 31 shots put on the Grads' net. The Senators surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Ottawa has scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign.

Ottawa additionally got points from Deric Boudreau, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Josh Pitt, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Robillard, who also finished with three goals and one assist. Mathieu Desautels also scored for Ottawa. More assists for Ottawa came via Drew Anderson, who had three, Conor Brown and Derek Brown, who contributed one each, and Liam Burtt, Ryan Crosson, and Thierry Gibeault, who each chipped in two.

Cumberland did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Grads put an average of two pucks into the net per game.

Ed Zdolshek made 15 saves for the Senators on 15 shots. Ottawa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Robin Billingham turned away 23 pucks between the pipes for Cumberland. The Grads incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cumberland ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jonathon Elliott was ejected from the game.
