Pembroke takes care of Kemptville early, wins 7-1

A five-goal first period deficit cost the Kemptville 73s, which could not recover and fell to the Pembroke Lumber Kings, 7-1.

Brandon Gagne was all over the ice for Pembroke, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Gagne scored 15:00 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Pembroke. Geoff Gallagher assisted on the tally.

The Lumber Kings forced 73s' netminders to work in net, launching 44 shots and forcing 37 saves. Ryan Mulder made eight stops and Travis Wilkins made 29. Pembroke bested its season scoring average. This season, the Lumber Kings average three goals per contest.

Pembroke also got points from Swann Boisvert, who also registered one goal and one assist, Gagne, who also had one goal and two assists, Justin Pelock, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Gallagher, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ben Dalpe also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Evan De Haan, Brendan Mcguire, Trevor Packard, Patrice Wren, and Travis Meyer, who each chipped in one and Francis Dupuis and Will Seeber, who contributed two each.

Kemptville was led by Josh Pitt, who scored the team's only goal. Pitt scored on the power play 7:29 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Pembroke. A cross checking penalty on Tom Hilbrich had put the 73s on the power play. Lucas Gonu picked up the assist.

Francis Dupuis made 15 saves for Pembroke on 16 shots. The Lumber Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kemptville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
