Wenatchee falls to Fairbanks in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs' Jared Linnell scored 18:13 into overtime to beat the Wenatchee Wild, 5-4 (OT).

The win by Fairbanks clinched the best of five series at 1-3.

The Ice Dogs overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Fairbanks trailed 4-2 after a goal by Wenatchee's Mario Puskarich at 8:27 in the third period. The Ice Dogs tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by JT Osborn at 19:20 in the third period.

Fairbanks was led by Linnell, who racked up one goal.

The Ice Dogs made Wild's goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 42 shots and forcing 37 saves. Brandon Jaeger made 13 stops and Greg Lewis made 24.

Fairbanks also got points from Alexander Jensen, who also registered one goal and one assist. Fairbanks also got a goal from Gabe Levin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fairbanks were Tayler Munson, who had two and Pete Spratte, Jack Callahan, Brock Carlston, John Stampohar, and Zach Vierling, who contributed one a piece.

The Wild forced Fairbanks' goalies to work without much rest, totaling 39 shots and forcing 35 saves. Steve Perry made 22 stops and Joe Phillippi made 13. Wenatchee excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Chris Rumble also scored for Wenatchee. More assists for Wenatchee came via DJ Vandercook, who had two and Tyler Hope, Max McHugh, and Ben Carey, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Dogs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Wild incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
