Wenatchee falls to Fairbanks in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Big Dipper Ice Arena Fri, Apr 15, 2011 Story by Narrative Science.
The Fairbanks Ice Dogs' John Stampohar scored 18:23 into overtime to beat the Wenatchee Wild, 4-3 (OT). The win gave Fairbanks a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. The Ice Dogs were paced by Stampohar, who finished with one goal. Fairbanks' offense rang up 37 shots on Wenatchee's net. Fairbanks also got points from Tyler Voigt, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Matt Millis also scored for Fairbanks. Other players who recorded assists for Fairbanks were Zach Vierling, who had three and Sean ORourke and JT Osborn, who contributed one a piece. The Ice Dogs were unable to stop the Wild from sending pucks towards the net, and Wenatchee eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. The Wild were led by Chris Rumble, who racked up one goal and one assist. Rumble scored 19:21 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Wenatchee also got a goal from Jacob Barber as well. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Ben Carey, who had one and Tyler Hope, who had two. Joe Phillippi rejected 47 shots on goal for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brandon Jaeger recorded 33 saves for Wenatchee. The Wild incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
