Fresno downs Wenatchee, 2-1

Derek Sutliffe had one point to lead the Fresno Monsters to a 2-1 victory over the Wenatchee Wild.

Fresno excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Monsters' offense was clicking better than usual and put 26 shots on goal during the game, better than the 21.7 shots per game they average.

Jordan Lovick also scored for Fresno. In addition, Fresno received assists from Thomas Freeman, Ethan Scherer, and Lucas Whelan, who contributed one a piece.

Wenatchee stifled Fresno's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wild average 30.8 shots on goal per game, but only sent 21 pucks on net against the Monsters. Wenatchee did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Wild put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

Wenatchee was led by Carl-Johan Sjogren, who scored the team's only goal. Sjogren scored 11:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wenatchee. Cody Von Rueden provided the assist.

Tom Conlin recorded 20 saves for Fresno. The Monsters incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Greg Lewis made 24 saves for the Wild on 26 shots. Wenatchee incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
