The Ottawa Senators and the Hawkesbury Hawks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Ottawa made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nicholas Belleville at 8:41 of the third period. Belleville was all over the ice for the Senators, as he registered two goals in the win. Ottawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. The Senators forced Hawks' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 36 shots and forcing 32 saves. Maxime Bedard made 19 stops and Dylan BrindAmour made 13. Ottawa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Hawkesbury power plays. Ottawa additionally got points from Trevor Doucette, who also had one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Chris Doyle as well. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Pierre-Michel Legare, who had one and Maxime Pilon, who had two. Hawkesbury was helped by Philippe Patry, who registered one goal. Patry scored 6:10 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Yanik Laliberte also scored for Hawkesbury. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Patrick Harrison and Sebastien Goulet, who each chipped in one. Dean Shepherdson took the win and made 13 saves before being replaced by Niels-Erik Ravn who made four saves. The Senators registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. The Hawks incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. For Hawkesbury, Laliberte was ejected from the game.
