Cumberland rips Gloucester, 4-1

The Cumberland Grads were firing on all cylinders against the Gloucester Ranger, and when the final buzzer sounded Grads emerged with a 4-1 win.

Gloucester threw everything it had at Cumberland's Eric Lepage, but he responded by making 15 saves to secure the win.

The Grads were led by Daniel Sauve, who finished with one goal. Sauve scored on the power play 17:50 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cumberland. A roughing penalty on Dustin Wichers had put Cumberland on the power play. Kevin Tansey provided the assist.

The Grads forced the Ranger's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Dominic Plaschy made 22 stops and Francis Dupuis made nine. Cumberland stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cumberland also had goals scored by Brock Plouffe, Keaven Finnerty, and Matt Miller, who each put in one. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Fabian Walsh, who had one and Eric Witzel and Michael Borkowski, who each chipped in two.

The Ranger could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Gloucester averages 3.2 goals per game. The Grads were unable to stop the Ranger from sending pucks towards the net, and Gloucester eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Scott Fleming also scored for Gloucester. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Cameron Bakker, who had one.

Cumberland incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Ranger incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
