St. Scholastica answered back just 24 seconds later with a goal by Mara Pearl assisted by Darby Eilefson. As the first period was winding down UW-La Crosse's Rebecca Horn made an unassisted goal to end the period with UW-La Crosse up 2-1.
In the second period St. Scholastica got into penalty trouble and gave UW-La Crosse good opportunity as the Saints went 2-men down for a few minutes but La Crosse could not capitalize. It wasn't until toward the end of the period that UW-La Crosse's Abby Glaus buried the puck to give UW-La Crosse a 3-1 lead.
The third period was hard fought with no scoring. St. Scholastica pulled their goalie with 2:13 left in the 3rd and UW-La Crosse's #8 Molly Kuckkahn found the empty net to seal the game for UW-La Crosse.
St. Scholastica Goaltender, Ellyn Shomion, had 18 saves while UW-La Crosse goaltender, Mia Bruesewitz end up with 27 saves.
