Sam has played both offense and defense, which has helped him become a well-rounded player because he combines the toughness of a defensemen and the speed of a power forward. He is a left-shooting, physical player who is excellent in shielding the puck along the boards during penalty kills. He plays with intensity and heart, takes great pride in moving the puck up the ice, and puts a priority on winning battles in the defensive zone.
Sam's favorite hockey player is Thomas Vanek because he knows where to be on the ice at all times. Sam's was recently privileged to have been chosen NAHL Midget Minor Showcase Defensive Most Valuable Player. Additionally, some of his most memorable hockey accomplishments were winning the 2007 Michigan State Bantam Major Championships, going to USA Hockey nationals in New York, and scoring both the tying and game winning goals to win a tournament in Canada while playing for Ann Arbor a few years ago.
Sam attends Goodrich High School where he has a 3.94 GPA. He also enjoys golf, football, and baseball. Sam plans to play Division I hockey in a top university while studying law. He also wants to play in the NHL.
