The game had a liitle bit of everything - beautiful scoring plays and hard fought individual battles. LouAnn "Sweet Pink Feet" Erickson scored a spectacular scissor-kick goal (actually I''''m not sure if it really was a scissor-kick or that Sweet Pink Feet scored it but if it was and if she did, it was spectacular). The Lightning jumped to a 5 -2 lead and things looked bleak for the Bulldogs when team leader Mary "The Bulldog" Nash took matters into her own hands. Sitting back on the back line, the Bulldog waited until the Lightnings Mike "The Giant" Harwerth got the ball and took off full speed towards the Bulldogs goal. The wily Bulldog waited for the Giant to look down, then sped towards him at full sped and launched herself at the Giant. The Bulldogs head made contact with the Giants midsection, a sound like a watermelon hitting cement echoed throughout the arena. The Giant went down like King Kong on the Empire State building. The fans went silent. And then, once the Bulldog was able to remove her head from the Giants midsection, she looked over at the Lightning bench, waved her fist at the players and yelled,"You want a piece of me? Do you? Don''t mess with the Bulldog!" The inspired Bulldogs quickly scored two goals against the suddenly flacid Lightning but they simply ran out of time. Tickets go on sale Monday for the Bulldog/Lightning re-match.
