The U14 Girls Spring Team returned from Syracuse, NY where they participated in the annual Syracuse Pre-Nationals hosted by OhioBasketball.com.  It was a fun filled weekend with highs and few lows!  The girls played 2 games on Saturday in pool play defeating CS Cyclones 41-12 and Belleville Spirits 39-21.  This guaranteed them 1st place in their pool.  On Sunday morning they played a crossover game vs. the 1st place team from pool B.  The girls played a great game, but in the end lost by 3 48-45.

In the quarter finals the girls came out on FIRE, building a 22 point lead at half time.  They went on to win the game by 26, and earn a birth in the semi final game.  This found them against a very tough opponent in SMAC Young Ballers.  Early in the game the girls went down by 10 points.  However, they fought back and were able to close the gap.  Late in the game they made some incredible defensive stances and were able to force overtime.  The 2 minute overtime saw the girls give up the first points, but they responded with some clutch foul shooting and took a 1 point lead into the final 9 seconds of the game.  Exiting the timeout the girls knew the only way they were going to be beat was by a long jump shot.  Nobody was getting to the rim on us!   SMAC got up a quick 3 pointer that missed, but a long rebound got the ball back out to the 3 point line and the shot dropped with no time remaining on the clock.  The girls lost 46-44, and were eliminated.  The girls left everything they had on the court, and were proud of their accomplishments.  What a great team to be involved with!!!  GO FIRE!!!
