The Atlanta Junior Knights are proud to announce that 1992 defenseman Joe Panek from Snellville, GA has committed to play NCAA college hockey for the Westfield State University Owls in the fall.

Panek completed two seasons with the Atlanta Knights, playing 47 games and posting 7 points.  The Atlanta Knights had the fewest goals given up in the EJHL South for both the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons.  Joe was an integral part of this defensive achievement.

"It is great to see Joe achieve his goal of Division III College Hockey," said Atlanta Knights Head Coach Scott Fankhouser. "I have enjoyed having Joe for two years and know that Westfield State has gained a great student athlete."

"I have played hockey across the US and it took me coming to the Atlanta Knights to be able to develop as a player," says Panek.  "I want to thank Scott Fankhouser and Scott Murphy as well as the Atlanta Knights Organization for helping me be able to play college hockey.  I can't wait to join the Westfield State University school and hockey program in the fall."

Westfield State University is located in Westfield, MA.  The Owls compete in the MASCAC.

The Atlanta Junior Knights origination is dedicated to developing student athletes as individuals and players, and to moving players to higher levels of hockey.  The coaching staff emphasizes discipline, dedication and maturity.  The Atlanta Junior Knights are two time EJHL South regular season champions, 2012 USA Hockey Tier III National champion, 2013 EJHL South playoff champion and 2013 USA Hockey Tier III National semifinalists.
