Kanemitsu Commits to Worcester State

The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that 1992 forward Clayton Kanemitsu from Chino, CA has committed to play NCAA college hockey for the Worcester State University Lancers in the fall.  Kanemitsu completed his second season with Hampton Roads; he followed an 8 point rookie campaign by racking up 8 goals and 22 assists for the Whalers this past season, posting 4 power play assists and 1 game winning goal.  Kanemitsu finished 5th overall on the team in scoring.

"I am extremely excited for Clayton", stated Whalers Head Coach Andy Newton.  "He has worked extremely hard the last two seasons to reach his goal of playing college hockey.  I look forward to watching Kaner continue to grow over the next 4 years in the Lancer program."

"Clayton has been a big part of Whaler Nation's success the last two season's", stated Whalers Owner Patrick Cavanagh.  "Coach John Coughlin has watched him play and has been pursuing Clayton for a while.  I feel Worcester State became a better team today and I look forward to watching Clayton excel at the next level of play".

Worcester State is located in Worcester, MA.  They compete in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC).

Kanemitsu is the 4th NCAA committment from Hampton Roads this season as the program continues its long track record of advancing players to the next level.  Kanemitsu joins Matt Zendejas (Neumann), Brett Kilar (New England College), and Cam Snyder (Fitchburg State) from this years class.  The Whalers expect 3-4 more committments in the coming weeks.
