The Hampton Roads Junior Whalers are proud to announce that 1992 goaltender Brett Kilar from Mission Viejo, CA, has committed to play NCAA college hockey for the New England College Pilgrims in the fall.
Kilar helped lead the Whalers to 2nd place and a playoff berth in the EJHL South this season, posting a record of 14-7-0-1, with a 3.08 GAA, .911 Save % and 1 shutout, appearing in 24 games for Hampton Roads. Brett was in the top 5 in the league in all major categories, finishing 3rd in the league in wins, 4th in save %, and 5th in GAA.
"Kilar was a rock in goal for us all season, with his size and skill, he takes away the whole net and gives shooters nothing", stated Head Coach Andy Newton, "New England College is not only getting a great goaltender, but also a tremendous person."
“Brett is a tremendous player, student, and person”, stated Hampton Roads Owner Patrick Cavanagh. “He has worked hard each and every day to earn the commitment to the New England College hockey program. After my conversations with Head Coach Tom Carroll, I fully expect Brett to be the leading goaltender for years to come at NEC. All of us at Whaler Nation look forward to watching Brett’s continued progress."
New England College is located in Henniker, NH. The Pilgrims compete in the ECAC East.
