Date: Jul 27, 2025
The North Fork Ospreys scored four runs in the top of the seventh, highlighted by a three-run home run from Brendan Duffy (SUNY Oneonta) to beat the South Shore Clippers by a score of 7-4.
North Fork got on the board early, scoring two runs in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead. South Shore would tie the score in the bottom of the second when an error brought in two Clipper runs, tying the game at 2-2.
South Shore would take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly hit by Ryan Hillery (St. Thomas Aquinas). The Clippers would carry that 3-2 lead into the top of the sixth.
North Fork would tie the score at 3-3 in the sixth on an RBI fielder’s choice from Lance Berger (Utica) that scored Rocco Cimino (Pace) to tie the game.
In the top of the seventh inning, Aaron Graves (Lincoln) and Matt Fagnant (Marywood) would rip two out back-to-back singles, putting runners at the corners for Cimino.
Cimino would hit an RBI single to right field, scoring Graves to give the Ospreys the lead. Duffy would then follow, and he would hit his second home run of the season, giving North Fork a 7-3 lead.
South Shore would not go away quietly in the bottom of the seventh as Larry Hotaling (Villanova) and Ryan Adams (St. John’s) hit back-to-back singles with one out. Justin Wilkinson (Adelphi) would bring in Hotaling to score on an RBI groundout, cutting the score to 7-4, but Tyler Lopez (SUNY New Paltz) in his second inning of relief for North Fork would get Ryan Kiendle (St. John’s) to fly out to center field to end the game.
With the Southampton Breakers' win at Shelter Island earlier today, the South Shore Clippers will finish as the #3 seed in the HCBL postseason starting on Thursday when they travel to Southampton.
