South Shore 20, Westhampton 0 (5 Innings)
The South Shore Clippers set new single-game franchise records for runs (20) and hits (20) in their 20-0 win over the Westhampton Aviators on Tuesday at William Floyd High School. The win is the Clippers' third straight, going back to Sunday’s doubleheader sweep at Shelter Island.
Ryan Adams (St. John’s) highlighted the Clippers' offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, six RBI, and four runs scored. Adams tied the franchise single-game record for RBI set by Matthew Brown-Eiring (Stony Brook) in 2021 and was tied by teammate Justin Wilkinson (Adelphi), who accomplished that 48 hours earlier in Shelter Island.
Anthony Armenia (Bridgeport) had three RBI as every player on the South Shore lineup had at least one hit, one RBI, and one run scored.
Kevin Brown (Wesleyan) pitched four shutout innings to get his second win of the season for the Clippers.
Shelter Island 5, Sag Harbor 2
Behind strong pitching from Andrew Rucci (Wagner) and a balanced offensive attack, the Shelter Island Bucks took down the Sag Harbor Whalers 5–2 on Tuesday evening at Fiske Field, evening their season record at 8–8, while the Whalers dropped to 6–7–3.
Shelter Island jumped out to an early lead and never trailed, thanks to a three-run second inning that provided all the cushion they would need. An RBI single by Billy Fluharty (Bucknell), an RBI groundout from Jack Vallario (Fordham), and a two-run single by Gibby Sullivan (Bates) were key moments that helped the Bucks capitalize on a pair of defensive miscues by the Whalers.
Shelter Island added insurance in the fifth when Tommy Munch (Occidental) launched his first home run of the season, a solo shot that pushed the lead to 5–0.
Sag Harbor mounted a late push in the top of the seventh. With one out, Chris Morabito (Bucknell) ripped a two-run double, his second of the game, bringing the Whalers within three. But the rally fizzled after Shelter Island reliever Joe LaPrade (St. Lawrence) would get the next two outs to end the game.
Morabito was the offensive standout for the Whalers, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, and two RBIs, while also swiping a base. But the rest of the lineup struggled against the Bucks starter Rucci, who improved to 2-0 with five shutout innings, scattering three hits, three walks, and striking out six.
LaPrade worked the final two innings, giving up two runs on three hits. Munch and Fluharty led the Bucks with two hits apiece, and Fluharty also drove in a run. Shelter Island finished with 10 hits, making efficient use of their opportunities.
