Date:  Source: Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League

On Sunday, June 29th, Carson Seymour made his Major League debut, tossing a scoreless eighth inning for the San Francisco Giants against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. Seymour, a former Southampton Breaker in 2018, made history becoming the 36th alum of the HCBL to make it to the Major Leagues.

In 2018, Seymour for Southampton went a perfect 5-0 for the Breakers with an ERA of 2.63 in 41.0 innings pitched while striking out 40 batters. Seymour was selected as an HCBL All-Star that season, where he pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in that year’s All-Star Game. At season’s end, Seymour was recognized for his performance on the mound by being voted the 2018 HCBL Pitcher of the Year.

Having played his freshman season at Dartmouth in 2018, Seymour transferred to Kansas State, where he played from 2020-21. Seymour would also play for the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod League during the 2019 and 2021 seasons, and compete for the Rockford Rivets in the Northwoods League in 2020.

Seymour would be selected by the New York Mets in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. In Seymour’s first season as a pro in 2022, he would split time with the St. Lucie Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones before being traded to the San Francisco Giants.

In 2023, Seymour would get called up to AA-Richmond in the Eastern League, appearing in 28 games with a 5-3 record and striking out 113 batters. Seymour would then progress to AAA-Sacramento in the Pacific Coast League in the 2024 and 2025 seasons before being called up to the Giants' big league roster for this past weekend’s series with the White Sox.

Seymour is also the sixth former Southampton Breakers player to make it to the Major Leagues.
