Hitting Dingers at the Derby: Meet the SFCBL's 2024 Marucci Homerun Derby Participants

         Every year, like Major League Baseball, the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League hosts its All-Star Game and Home Run Derby. This year’s Home Run Derby will be hosted at Little Fenway in Delray Beach, which is a smaller scale replica of Fenway Park in Boston complete with a 40-foot high “green monster.” This year, specially selected players from across the league will get their chance to duke it out in this memorable home run hitting competition. 

2024 Marucci SFCBL Home Run Derby Participants:

Matty Warren - West Palm Beach Iguanas

         The first participant is Matty Warren, who is an outfielder from Palm Beach Atlantic University. He has had 75 at-bats in 25 games this SFCBL season with the Iguanas, with 21 hits and 12 RBIs, as well as scoring 20 runs. Warren has hit three homeruns in total this season.

 

Danny Rogers - Delray Lightning

         The next participant is Danny Rogers, who is an infielder from Central Connecticut State University. He has played 30 games for the Lightning this season in which he has had 71 at bats, 25 hits, and 18 RBIs. Like Warren, Rogers has scored 20 runs and three homeruns so far including a batting average of .352. 

 

Drew Ripepi - Boca Beach Boys

         The third participant is Drew Ripepi, an infielder from Gardner-Webb University. He has played 13 games with the Boca Beach Boys this season, accumulating 34 at-bats, 13 hits, and 8 RBIs, all with a stellar batting average of .382. Ripepi has scored 10 runs, one of which was a home run.

 

Luke Leto - Delray Beach Wave

         The fourth participant is Luke Leto, an infielder from the University of Toledo. He has played 23 games for the Wave, with his stats including 56 at-bats, 12 hits, and 10 RBIs along with scoring 14 runs. Leto has hit four homeruns this season.

 

Gabe Camacho - Boynton Beach Buccaneers

         The fifth participant is Gabe Camacho, a first baseman from the University of California San Diego. Camacho has played 18 games this season, with 57 at-bats, 23 hits, and 20 RBIs. He has scored 19 runs this season. Camacho has a batting average of .404 and is tied with Luke Leto, also having hit four homeruns.

 

Easton Hood- Boca Beach Boys

         The sixth participant is Easton Hood, an outfielder from Valdosta State University. Hood has played in 16 games with the Beach Boys this season with 50 at bats, 13 hits, and 11 RBIs. Hood has scored 8 runs this season with two from homeruns.

 

Jose Fernandez - West Boca Snappers

         The seventh participant is Jose Fernandez, a catcher from Monroe College. Fernandez has played 19 games with the Snappers and has had 70 at-bats. He leads all 2024 SFCBL Homerun Derby participants with 27 hits and 25 RBIs on the season. He has scored 16 runs and holds a batting average of .386. Fernandez has hit a league-leading 6 home runs so far this season.

 

Carter Brady - Palm Beach Xtreme

         The eighth and final derby participant is Carter Brady, an outfielder from Florida Atlantic University. Brady has played 21 games this season, with 67 at-bats, 22 hits, and 12 RBIs. He has scored 18 runs for the Xtreme, and he has two homeruns to his name.
