Baggin' For Bears Cornhole Tourney

The Patriots faced off against Lehigh and WPU this weekend. Saturday’s game against Lehigh resulted in a 2-0 loss for GMU. Having a short roster due to injuries, GMU faced a disadvantage this weekend.
The first period remained scoreless and even. Lehigh jumps ahead in the second, scoring two goals. We were still unable to beat out Lehigh’s goalie in the third, the game ending with no points for the Patriots. Goaltender, Lukas Heuberger, saved a total of 38 shots on goal.
Sunday, we traveled to New Jersey to play WPU on their home ice. Another player was injured in the game the day prior, which handed the Patriots another setback. The game resulted in a 6-3 loss for the Patriots. WPU gets on the scoreboard early, only two minutes of play surpassed. By the end of the first period, WPU gained a 3-0 lead.
The second period saw three more goals from WPU. GMU gets on the scoreboard with 15:40 left in the period when defensemen Drew Tsakounis passes the puck to Aleksei Karpov who scores GMU’s first goal.
The third period saw a few penalties for both teams, which lead to a shorthanded goal for GMU. Goaltender Johnathan Verity passed the puck to Drew Tsakounis who sniped one past WPU’s goaltender. With 4:52 remaining in the period, Dmitiry Ignatov scored GMU’s third goal (Tsakounis, Chapman). Goaltender, Johnathan Verity, saved a total of 26 shots on goal.
This weekend GMU will play USNA once away and once at home. Friday November 3rd @ 7, the team will play away at McMullen Arena. They faceoff again on Saturday November 4th @ 8:30 home at Prince William Ice Center.
