TEAM ONTARIO ANNOUNCES U17 BOYS BOX TOP 24
Date: Apr 9, 2025
Team Ontario Lacrosse is jumping into the newest form of lacrosse, the Sixes game! World Lacrosse created this version of the game for possible inclusion in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. This version is played on a smaller version of the men's and women's field lacrosse field, with the same net, and (you got it!) six players aside.
The Sixes game is played in 4 x 8-minute quarters, with a face-off to start each quarter. Once a goal is scored the goalie re-starts play. There are two sets of rules, men's and women's, with the equipment requirements the same as the field games.
Ontario Lacrosse Association Program Director, Ron MacSpadyen is very excited to have the Ontario Lacrosse Association introduce the Olympic Sixes game. "The game we love just got faster!" says MacSpadyen. "This is also a great opportunity for all Ontario Lacrosse Association players who have ambition and potential to play in the Olympic Games."
The Sixes Summer Showcase will get started at 9 AM at the Oshawa Civic Fields tomorrow, July 19th. Games will run all day on four fields and at all different age divisions. Come on out and watch this new version of Lacrosse! There is no entry fee and lots of seating!
