Milton Menace Preview: Menace vs Collingwood Blues, Round 2 Game 2 - March 26, 2023

The Milton Menace are returning home on Sunday for game two of their second-round playoff series against the Collingwood Blues.

The Menace will be looking to bounce back after a tough road loss to open the series. They fell 6-1 to Collingwood on Friday night. Milton got on the board first with a power play goal from Aidan Hughes, but the lead was short-lived as the Blues had tied it by the end of the opening period. Collingwood scored three in the second and another two in the third to seal the win. Jared Coccimiglio and Myles Perry each picked up an assist.

Milton won both of the home games in their first-round series against Pickering and will look to continue the trend on Sunday. Throughout the regular season, the Menace were unable to beat Collingwood in Milton. On Sept. 19, the Blues won 4-3 in overtime and then won 3-2 on Nov. 18. The other three regular-season meetings were in Collingwood, and Milton won two.

The Menace only managed to get 19 shots to Collingwood’s 32 in Friday’s game. This number will have to improve to beat this strong Blues team. One goal will usually not be enough to win a playoff game and is even less likely against a team with a skilled offense. It will also be important for the Menace to keep the pressure on even if they take a lead as they did in Friday’s game. Collingwood will not give many opportunities, especially if they are down so it is key for Milton to find the open space and make dangerous scoring chances for themselves.

Fill the stands at the Milton Memorial Arena on Sunday to support the Menace as they look to tie the series at one. If you can’t be there in person, catch the stream on Hockey TV.
