The Brooklin, ON resident joined the Menace in a mid-season trade from the Haliburton County Huskies.

Between the two OJHL teams, he scored 14 goals and added 29 assists in 2022-23.

Perry considered his options, including some NCAA Division 3 schools and other Ontario universities, before deciding on Laurier.

“Laurier has a great hockey program and I also value my education,” the 21-year-old told the OJHL. “I’m getting the best of both worlds.”

Perry will study business, with an eye on working in the financial sector or opening his own business.

“I like real estate,” he said. Becoming a developer is an ultimate goal.

Perry spent two years (2019-21) with the North York Rangers of the OJHL before joining the Pickering Panthers last year for their “crazy run” to a league title and the final game at the national championships in Saskatchewan.

He sees some of that same magic in the Menace who eliminated the Panthers during the first round of the playoffs last week.

“I think we can do some damage and go on a run,” he said.

Former OJHLers on Laurier’s roster this season included: Tyler Davis (Markham, Aurora, Brantford), Matthew Dunsmoor (Wellington, Burlington, Wellington), Matthew Zebedee (Burlington, Collingwood, Stouffville, Jr. Canadiens), Conor Ali (Brantford), Kyle Gentles (Pickering, Stouffville), Declan Graham (Newmarket), Steven MacLean (Newmarket), Ryan Mulholland (Brantford), Adrian Naburs (Collingwood, Newmarket), Jake Payette (Georgetown), James Thomson (Aurora, Trenton, Newmarket), Noah Tooke (Aurora), Evan Benwell (Toronto Patriots, Burlington), Patrick Brown (Collingwood), Nick Giunta (Markham, Burlington), Grayden Gottschalk (North York), Matt McJannet (Georgetown) and Sullivan Sparkes (Trenton).

"We are proud of how far Myles has come this year with Milton," said Menace assistant coach Daniel D’Ercole. "He has become a key member of our team and we are excited for the next step in his hockey journey at Laurier. He has made a positive impact not only on the players around him, but also in the greater Milton community. "

Congratulations to Myles and best of luck in the OUA and U SPORTS!

The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, has had more than 90 NCAA, U SPORTS, CHL and professional commitments in 2021-22 – including more than 25 NCAA Division I scholarships.
