Milton Menace Preview: Menace at St. Michael's Majors- February 3, 2023
The Milton Menace are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Toronto to take on the St. Michael’s Majors. After a two-game homestand, Friday will be the Menace’s first of four games on the road.
The Menace last played Sunday night when they beat the Stouffville Spirit 4-3 at the Milton Memorial Arena in double overtime. Aidan Hughes had a big night, scoring not only the game-winner but also the game-tying goal to force overtime. Hughes also added an assist for three points on the night.
With Sunday’s win, the Menace clinched a playoff berth. This will be their second straight appearance in the postseason. Milton sits fourth in the North/West Conference with 55 points, just four points behind Georgetown. The Menace’s season record currently sits at 26-13-1-2.
The Majors come into the game on a three-game losing streak, with the most recent loss coming on Saturday to the Toronto Junior Canadiens. The team sits seventh in the South/East Conference with an overall record of 17-21-2-4.
With the teams being in different conferences, this is their first and only meeting of the season. They were, however, trade partners back in November when the Menace acquired Jared Coccimiglio in exchange for Ryan O’Toole and Christian Trianni.
St. Michael’s goals against and goals for averages fall in the league’s bottom half, while the Menace sit in the top half for both statistics. The Menace will have to keep their skilled offence rolling and take advantage of the scoring opportunities as they head to Toronto in search of a win.
If you are heading to Toronto to watch the Menace in action, puck drop is scheduled for 7:30. The game will also be available to stream on Hockey TV.
