Milton Menace Preview: Menace vs Georgetown Raiders- January 27, 2023
It’ll be a battle of the North Halton teams on Friday night at Milton Memorial Arena. The Milton Menace are returning home to play the Georgetown Raiders after three games on the road.
The Menace come into this game off a 7-2 win in Brantford, bringing their record to 25-12-1-2. Everyone was getting in on the offence as the game saw six different Milton goal-scorers and 60 shots on the Brantford net. Jared Coccimiglio and Connor Driscoll led the way for the Menace, both recording four points on the night. In addition, Myles Perry collected his 100th OJHL point in Thursday’s game. The Menace will look to keep this powerful offence rolling into Friday’s game.
Georgetown sits third in the North/West Conference, just ahead of the Menace, and have a regular season record of 26-8-2-3. The Raiders are just four points ahead with one game in hand, making Friday’s matchup consequential to the standings. Georgetown is looking to get back into the win column after a 7-6 overtime loss to Burlington. The Raiders also have the top-ranked penalty kill in the league, operating at just over 90% on the season.
This will be the final meeting of the regular season between these two teams. Milton won three of the first four meetings this season, and all but one of those games were decided by just one goal.
Friday will be a special night in Milton as the Menace are hosting Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Night in support of Liam Wilson of Liam’s Mission. The proceeds from the evening’s various fundraising events will benefit Sick Kids Foundation and the John Tavares Foundation. Be sure to grab your tickets to come to the rink and support the cause.
