The 17-year-old from Burlington leads Mississauga in scoring this season with 10 goals and 18 assists in 27 games, following up on a 32-point rookie campaign with the Chargers.
“It's an honour to be able to further my academic and hockey career at a prestigious school like RPI,” Ziliotto told the OJHL. “The coaches showed a lot of confidence in me, and their culture and what they are building in their program is something I want to be part of.
“I would like to thank my teammates, coaches and family for all of their support. I wouldn’t be able to do it without them. Can’t wait to get started.”
The 6-foot-1 forward is a product of the Burlington Eagles AAA program. He was an 11th round pick of the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League’s 2021 U16 draft.
“The entire Mississauga Chargers organization is very happy for Jack and his entire family,” Mississauga Head Coach Joe Washkurak told the OJHL. “Jack had a very good rookie season last year with 17 goals and worked very hard over the summer and has had a great start to this season. Jack comes from a great family and his brother Josh also played the league with Burlington.
“I also want to mention that Jack has great teammates and this would not be possible without them. Playing for Coach Dave Smith at a very highly respected school like RPI is something I know Jack is extremely thankful for and proud of.
“We also want to wish Jack good luck at the World Junior A selection camp this week in Cornwall. It is a truly a honour to be selected to just attend the camp.”
OJHL grads on RPI’s roster this season include Jack Watson and Finn Brown (St. Michael’s) and Jake Gagnon (Wellington).
Congratulations to Jack and best of luck in the NCAA!
