“Being a part of the MSU program is a humbling and special feeling,” Patterson told the Rangers’ website this week. “The coaches are amazing, their culture and beliefs are what my family and I stand by and in addition, the resources available are second to none.

“It is a Big 10 school and I am excited to play in front of passionate fans at Munn Arena," he said. "I want to thank the coaches for believing in me and I can not wait to get started.”

Patterson, 16, is in his first season with the Rangers. He scored a team-leading five goals and added three assists through his first seven OJHL games.

Last season, Patterson put up 18 goals and 30 points for the OHL Cup champion Mississauga Senators U16 team in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). He was a third-round selection of the Flint Firebirds in this year’s OHL U16 draft.

He played with the Burlington Eagles U14 AAA team in the South Central AAA Hockey League (SCTA) during the 2019-20 season, where he scored 35 times and added 13 assists for 48 points.

Congratulations to Riley and best of luck in the OJHL and NCAA!

The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, has had more than 90 NCAA, U SPORTS, CHL and professional commitments in 2021-22 – including more than 25 NCAA Division I scholarships.
