“The culture stands out to me,” forward Javen Heidergott began.
“The Eagles are a hard-working group of men who bring it everyday. I want to help build that family throughout the team, work as hard as I can, and move on to the next level,” he described.
The Telluride, CO product finished with 25 points (8-17-25) in 36 regular season games and was eager to return for his second season with the organization. The 6’2, 210-lb center spent much of his time locking down the middle, but also played defense while the Eagles experienced some injuries during December and January.
Heidergott became a key, versatile cog for the Eagles in 2021-22 in those combined roles. It’s that very versatility that Head Coach/General Manager Steve Haddon values in the Coloradoan and couldn’t wait to retain.
“He’s good in the faceoff circle, he plays on the power play, the penalty kill, and can just play in any and all situations,” Haddon remarked.
Heidergott certainly made himself well-known out of the gates. He burst onto the scene for the Eagles, notching 10 points (3-7-10) in his first eight games, a hat trick in October versus Pueblo, and had three separate 4-game point streaks during the year.
As the season progressed, Heidergott also gained a reputation around the division for having a willingness to hustle to the puck, shift after shift, use his 6’2, 210-lb frame to outmuscle opponents, and find the back of the net.
With 96 games of junior hockey experience across three seasons, the veteran can’t wait to get started on his juniors swan song and be part of a group eager to make their mark in the playoffs.
“I’m excited to see the new faces, what the season has in store and I can’t wait for the season to get started,” Heidergott said.
“Picking up from last year, we were so close to Nationals. We know what it takes and have to bring it this year,” he concluded.
Nor can the Eagles coaching staff wait to see what Heidergott can accomplish in his encore.
“We expect this to be his best season yet and we are excited to see how he takes advantage of this opportunity,” Haddon finished.
Entering their 10th season of existence, the Eagles have graduated over 100 players to college commitments in the United States (NCAA) and Canada (U-Sports), as well as professional contracts abroad. Eagles’ alumni dot the hockey landscape; playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), Poland and Sweden.
