WAKEFIELD — The Mystic Schooners baseball team gutted out a 6-5 victory in 10 innings at Ocean State on Thursday night at Old Mountain Field.

The Schooners and the Waves were deadlocked, 1-1, entering the bottom of the seventh inning when Ocean State scored two runs.

Mystic would load the bases with no outs to begin the eighth inning but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity, keeping the score at 3-1 Ocean State. After the Waves tacked on two additional runs sending the Schooners into the ninth trailing 6-1.

Charlie Pagliarini (Fairfield University) got the comeback and scoring going for Mystic in the ninth with an RBI walk plating Kevin Ferrer (University of Connecticut). Then Joseph Jaconski scored on a pass ball by the Waves catcher bringing the score to 6-3.

Down to their last strike and out in the ninth, Eddie Michelletti tied the contest on a two RBI single to right field plating Addison Kopak (University of Rhode Island) and Pagliarini.

After loading the bases once again in the top of the 10th, Kopak worked a 10 pitch walk allowing Jimmy Chatfield (Yale University) to give the Schooners a 6-5 lead.

Connor Harris (George Washington University) was stellar out of the bullpen down the stretch for Mystic. After working a scoreless ninth, Harris secured his third win of the season and second in as many days.

Ferrer (University of Connecticut) hit his second home run of the season in the top of the third inning.

Pagliarini (Fairfield University) recorded his first multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-3 night at the plate with two walks and an RBI.

Mystic starting pitcher Jonathan Gonzalez had another strong start on the summer by going 5 ⅓ innings giving up one run while striking out eight. The Stetson University southpaw now has 26 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of work.

With the win, Mystic moved into sole possession of third place in the NECBL Coastal Division.
