THE STEEPLECATS FINALLY GET FIRST WIN IN 2022!

Date:  Source: North Adams SteepleCats

North Adams, MA- The SteepleCats did it! They finally did it! Scream it to the world! The North Adams SteepleCats have won a baseball game in 2022!

In a hard-fought contest against the North Shore Navigators, the Cats emerged victorious after an excellent start by southpaw Cory Bosecker. The Butler Bulldog hurled four strong innings while only allowing one run and striking out seven.

Bosecker showed substantial composure and fortitude as he left the bases empty twice in this game without allowing a runner to cross the plate.

With the confidence that arose from Bosecker's start, the offense was rolling early as the SteepleCats scored two in the second via a two-run single by Ryan Galanie and one in the second on an RBI single by Hunter Pasqualini.

The Navigators picked up a run in the fourth and another in the sixth to bring the game within one. It looked like it might be another one of those games where the SteepleCats score early, and the bats stay dormant for the rest of the game.

However, this was not to be as the North Adams SteepleCats did something on Tuesday that they hadn't done all season: score insurance runs! In the bottom of the eighth inning, still leading 3-2, the Cats got to work.

Ryan Galanie led off with a single, and after Cesar Franco struck out, Scott Jones pinch hit for Carson Dunkel and blooped one over the head of second baseman Ty Dooley. Then Austin Straub made the brilliant decision to have his players double steal.

Cedric Rose walked to load the bases, which allowed Vincent Bianchina, making his first start of the summer, to come to the plate. The first pitch he saw ran inside and knicked him on the arm, and Galanie came into score to make it a 4-2 game. Later in the frame, Justin Sierra at the dish now, a passed ball and a great burst of speed from Jones put the Cats ahead by three.

A clean top of the ninth from Will Hearn gave the North Adams SteepleCats their first win of the season. They'll be back at it today in an away game against the Keene Swamp Bats. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
