December 7, 2021, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Zachary Roy (Photo by Andy Corneau / OJHL Images) of the Pickering Panthers has been named its Warrior Goaltender of the Month for November.

Roy went 5-1-0 during the month, posting a 1.48 goals-against average with a 0.957 save percentage. He had two shutouts, 2-0 over Markham on Nov. 26 and 3-0 against Collingwood – stopping 37 shots – on Nov. 12. Roy leads the league in both save percentage and GAA.

The 20-year-old from Callander, near North Bay, joined the Panthers from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League on Nov. 10. The product of the North Bay Trappers AAA organization and Toronto Nationals U16 team joined the Bulldogs ahead of the 2018-19 OHL season. A fourth-round pick of Hamilton in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, he was selected to attend the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence goaltending camp that summer.  In 77 games in the OHL, he had a 3.68 GAA and 0.886 save percentage.

William Nguyen of the Trenton Golden Hawks was runner-up to Roy as the Goaltender-of-the-Month. The Ottawa product went 4-0-0 during November, posting a 1.75 GAA and a 0.951 save percentage for Trenton, who is in first place overall in the OJHL. Nguyen joined Trenton from the Nepean Raiders ahead of the ill-fated 2020-21 OJHL season. He played AAA minor hockey for the Raiders and Ottawa 67’s organizations.
