Battle of the Birds: Red Hawks Fall Short in Tight Match A...
Date: Oct 9, 2025
Last weekend, the Pirates took to their home ice to face the NJIT Highlanders in Seton Hall's "Pink the Rink" game. In an effort to raise awareness on Breast Cancer throughout the Seton Hall community, the team collected donations and sold pink t-shirts before the game. The team also had a valued member of the community, Mrs. Nyre, wife of the University President Nyre and a breast cancer survivor, drop the puck at the beginning of the game. At the end of the night, the team was able to raise $1,021 from donations and t-shirt sales. All proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society and will go directly towards prevention, detection, and education of breast cancer.
From the first puck drop, the Pirates seized control and never looked back. With three goals in the first period, four in the second, and two in the third, the Pirates certainly did not lack offensive production, gliding to a 9-1 win over the Highlanders. Leading the way on the scoreboard was junior forward Nick Serapiglia, who earned himself an impressive hat trick and also tallied an assist. Senior goaltender Adam Spitz made 35 saves in his third victory of the season. With the win, the Pirates extend their winning streak to six. They will look to make it seven in a row against Monmouth on home ice.
