The William Paterson University ice hockey team continued their hot start with a record of 9-1.  With victories over Villanova, Towson, George Mason and Navy, the Pioneers have captured four ECHA (Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association) victories to start the season.  Leading the way has been the strong play of senior forward Adam Marvin.  Marvin has been in the top 10 of ACHA Division 1 scoring for most of the early parts of the season.  Through October 31, the sniper sits at 6th in the country in scoring with 8 goals and 13 assists.  In addition to Marvin, team captain, Tommy Bauer, has posted 9 goals and veteran Zach Thompson has posted 11 points and strong two way play.  Newcomers, Jason Lastra and Austin Teats have contributed on the scoresheet as well as added a strong, physical presence.  On the back end, Braden Ploehn has led a revamped defensive core with newcomers, George Boyle, Tommy Boyle and Frankie Filato making solid contributions in the early part of the season.  The goaltending trio of Cole Mulholland, Hunter Koch and Nicholas Johansson have combined for a 2.80 GAA in the first part of the season.

Coach Ballance on the start, "While it hasn’t been easy, the team is off to a strong start earning 9 wins, four of which being league play. We have stressed the importance of taking each game one at a time. I think we can be better mentally when it comes to focusing on the game at hand, the team has battled to get to where they are currently. We aren’t satisfied yet, but it’s a good start that we can build off of. We have received solid contributions throughout the lineup, specifically from many of our newcomers. Going forward we will continue to prepare for the next game up and focus for 60 minutes on the task at hand during that game. It is the only way for us to be successful in achieving our goals as a team”

The team heads into the middle part of the schedule with matchups against NYU, West Chester and Navy.

The next home game is Saturday, November 6 vs NYU.  Game time is 2:30pm at the Ice Vault in Wayne, NJ.
