TAMPA, Florida. - The Tampa Spartans Men’s Hockey Team scored 6 goals on Friday night to take their 4th annual Pink the Rink game.

PINK THE RINK:

• The University of Tampa Spartans hosted their 4th annual Pink the Rink game to raise money for the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation in support of Breast Cancer awareness.
• The Spartans hosted activities like a jersey raffle, Chuck-a-Puck, and a chance to make a donation to raise money for the cause.
• Overall, the team raised around $1300 in their efforts, making this fundraiser a success.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Final: USF 1, Tampa 6

HOW IT HAPPENED IN THE GAME:

1st Period

●      Right off the opening face-off Tampa senior Evan Hoffberg gets his first goal of the year on a rebound from Billy Cody and Christian Kukas.

●      Only two minutes later, senior Eric Pedro buries another goal with assists from Angelo Picariello and Connor Berry for the Spartans making it 2-0 until the end of the period.

2nd Period

•  Matthew Needleman added on another goal for Tampa with an assist from Ryan Andrews.
• Alternate Captain Josey Davis put another one in the back of the net giving the Spartans a 4-goal lead.
• On the Tampa Powerplay, defenseman Michael Pettijohn scored a goal from the slot on a feed from Connor Berry.
• Sophomore Ryan Andrews got his first goal of the year on assists from Christian Kukas and Grant Parrish making the score 6-0 after the 2nd period.

3rd Period

•  The Spartans’ shutout was spoiled when USF scored a late 3rd period powerplay goal to make the final score 6-1.
